F O U R V2.2

                            by John Augustine

FOUR was written in Assembly for MS Dos systems. CGA or better graphics is
required. Uses very little memory, and no "installation" is required.

Your opponent has artificial intelligence. In time, you will notice that
"it" develops into a more challenging opponent as it "learns". Initially,
with just a little "knowledge" ("FOUR.DTA"), it performs well. Don't expect a
dramatic change overnight.

  HOW FOUR'S "ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE" WORKS:

Use "HELP.EXE" and press Enter until you reach file, "THEORY.TXT". Now you
can read the details.

  HOW TO PLAY:

The object of the game is to be the first player to get 4 of your pieces in
line (next to each other), either in a vertical column, in a row (across), or
diagonally.

  TIP:

Column number 4 is strategically the best column. Put your pieces into that
column early in the game.

  GETTING STARTED:

To "Run" the game, simply type (without quotes) "FOUR" and press Enter.
Select who goes first. On your turn, press a number key from 1 to 7 relative
to the column you want to "drop" your piece into.

Although "FOUR" is simple to learn, it can be very challenging.
