You can simply drag and drop the file BREF.BAT over the DOSBox icon to start playing. Experienced DOSBox users may choose other methods of startup. The software was configured and tested to work with the official DOSBox build v0.74-3 available from www.dosbox.com. It may or may not work with any other third-party DOSBox distributions that are available. !!! IMPORTANT !!! Bref supports both Sound Blaster and Gravis UltraSound sound cards, but when run in DOSBox, Sound Blaster seems to work poorly. It is recommended to turn on Gravis UltraSound (GUS) emulation and use this option instead of Sound Blaster when playing in DOSBox. If you run Bref using the supplied BREF.BAT file, it will switch DOSBox to GUS emulation for the duration of play, and turn it back off when you exit the game. However, GUS emulation may be also enabled manually.
