Winged Warrior is an overhead-view role-playing game (RPG) reminiscent of many console titles, but with somewhat simplified character levelling system. The story mixes fantasy and sci-fi elements, and is set in a medieval world where magic is used that is invaded by extraterrestrial aliens. The player takes on the role of a Winged Warrior in the King's service who is sent to deal with the alien threat. Gameplay is split between navigating the game world and fighting through enemy-filled areas. Unlike many other RPGs, the player does not receive experience from fights, but rather gold which may be then spent on training that increases the Winged Warriors stats: health and magic points. Combat is turn-based and equally simple: the player may choose to attack with the sword, cast an offensive spell, cast a healing spell or flee, which comes with no penalty. Dataware still sells the Windows version of the game.
