Hoosier City is an overhead-view action-adventure game which is very similar to Robomaze III, but is apparently set in a different universe. In the post-apocalyptic world of Hoosier City, remnants of humanity live in the protection of giant domes, surrounded by mythological creatures like orcs, dragons and the undead. As contact with one such dome, Hoosier City, is lost, a brave warrior from Oil City flies his helicopter to the rescue, only to find the place overrun by orcs and mutants. Like Robomaze III, Hoosier City tries to play like The Legend of Zelda, but is thwarted by poor controls and other limitations. Screens only stay cleared of enemies for as long as the player does not leave them, and will be repopulated after every transition between screens. Health pickups are scarce, and enemies deal considerable damage, exacerbated by restrictive manoeuvring options in most locations. Be sure to save often, and visit every hut for useful pickups and health extensions. Hoosier City was originally sold as shareware, with only the first episode out of three included in the unregistered version. Eventually, MVP Software made all three episodes available as free download.
