# Wake Up and Save the World
Created frantically by Dr. Dos for "Oktrollberfest", a 2020 Game Jam by WiL and
KKairos
Requires [ZZT v3.2](https://museumofzzt.com/file/z/zzt.zip) and
[Zeta](http://zeta.asie.pl/) to run.
## Description
"Wake Up and Save the World" is a ZZT adventure world in the style of mid-90s
ZZT worlds like "Code Red", "Coolness", and other games in which an everyday
teenager wakes up, and has a grand adventure to save the world. Although the
audience of ZZT games is now far older than the early-teen protagonists of these
titles, I think you can understand the appeal ZZTers had as early-teens in
these sort of power fantasy games that were loosely base on real world settings.
In "Wake Up and Save the World" (henceforth referred to as WUASTW), you play as
Tim, living in the Pacific Northwest and trying to figure out how to alleviate
his boredom and have some fun this weekend. As you'll soon see, he gets way more
than he bargained for!
WUASTW is *SHAREWARE*. If you enjoy this software, you are required to register.
To register, mail a check or money order for $19.95 + $2.00 S&H to:

* A FAQ with puzzle solutions and plot information
* A hand-drawn map of the game's town
* A step-by-step walkthrough to get through the warehouse chapter
* A checklist to track which of the game's endings you've obtained!
## Guidance for non-ZZTers
**I'm including this because I copy/pasted this from my last release. The nature
of this game jam means that those new to ZZT will likely not get nearly as much
out of this game. Check out
[The 2010s of ZZT](https://museumofzzt.com/article/459/the-2010s-of-zzt) for
some (relatively) modern game suggestions, or
[The Best of ZZT](https://museumofzzt.com/article/295/the-best-of-zzt) for an
idea of some quality titles from ZZT's near 30-year history.**
If you've never played ZZT before, simply choose keyboard and color on the main
screen and hit "P" on the game's title to begin playing. If you're using the
font the text will be a bit hard to read.
Arrow keys move. Shift + arrow keys shoot. "T" lights a torch. "S" saves. Town is
most people's first ZZT game so it shouldn't be too hard to learn what things
do. It does however have a few possible soft-locks, some of which won't be
immediately obvious. (Save before you do anything in the bank.)
You can use "?" to open a cheat prompt where you can use the following cheats:
* "HEALTH"
* "AMMO"
* "TORCHES"
* "GEMS"
* "KEYS"
* "ZAP"
The cheats are not case sensitive. "?ZAP" can be used to erase the tiles
adjacent to the player.
## Development
See WUASTW-POSTTROLLEM.txt. This file will not be available on the game's
initial release (because the deadline is in 90 minutes).

The external resources, such as tarballs or Git repositories, are then available as part of the object. Their files can be considered local to the object and usable in scripts or as part of a build process.
For resources that are only to be used as part of the build or runtime of the object, it is best to describe those local to those sections.
