DOS Puzzle game from Franck Gotthold from 1997.
Self-published
1997
Bref is a Columns variant featuring funny little creatures called brefs (possibly from the French word meaning 'short' as this game was made in France) with high-resolution SVGA graphics and an enhanced rule set that includes various bonuses and other elements. You can play either alone or with another player on the same computer, trying to rack up as much points as possible. The goal of each single-player level (stage) is to "rescue" a specified number of brefs by arranging the falling tiles that contain them so that three or more brefs of the same colour are positioned next to each other, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Such tiles are removed from the board. If the time runs out before this goal is met, it's game over. The high score is thus calculated based both on the number of points accumulated, and the time spent on completing the stages. The game has three difficulty levels. There is a special holiday mode in the game that turns on automatically before and during Christmas. It does not affect gameplay, but alternate Christmas-themed graphics are shown in some menus, and a snow effect is played during the stages. Bref was originally marketed as shareware by its author, but the final release, version 2.0, was made completely free to download and distribute.

This section tracks other objects or external resources.
The external resources, such as tarballs or Git repositories, are then available as part of the object. Their files can be considered local to the object and usable in scripts or as part of a build process.
For resources that are only to be used as part of the build or runtime of the object, it is best to describe those local to those sections.
This section tracks information useful to describing how to run this object.
