Desperabis is a first-person action-adventure game in a medieval fantasy setting. The player takes on the role of Kjarthan, a wizard's apprentice who unwittingly lets loose a demon when trying to save the life of his loved one, and must now set things back right and save the world. The game is rendered in full 3D and has very high production values for a freeware product, showing great attention to detail. The story is split into two episodes, with the first one placing a greater emphasis on puzzles and exploration, and the second more combat-oriented. The game is entirely in German, so you'll miss a good chunk of the story if you don't know the language, but it should be playable none the less. Author Florian Born released Desperabis as freeware. His site, accessible via the Wayback Machine, also has a detailed walkthrough of the game (also in German).
