Zmiy (which in Slavic languages means 'serpent') is a free, open source Snake or Nibbles variant that was coded to run under minimal IBM 8086 configuration, but preferably with a coloured VGA display. Like in Nibbles, the goal is to guide the ever-growing snake around the level to digits that appear randomly, from 1 to 9, without colliding with the walls, the snake's own body/tail or other obstacles. Once the number 9 is reached, the game moves on to the next level, with higher snake movement speed and various additional obstacles on the playing field that must be avoided. Zmiy was coded by Mateusz Viste and released as freeware, along with the source code.
